The Countries of the Global Harmonization Working Party (GHWP), in their final communiqué of the 25th annual meeting, organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), have recommended stimulating innovation and supporting the industry of medical devices through accelerating procedures of harmonization of systems among countries, sustaining supply chains of medical devices and providing medical devices and equipment for patients as part of international efforts in combating pandemics. During the meeting, the participants also recommended supporting scientific efforts to prevent counterfeit cases in the market of medical devices and equipment through intensifying scientific and clinical assessment and monitoring on medical devices and equipment after their marketing, in addition to keeping pace with technological developments in medical devices, digital health and clinical studies.
