Saudi Press: Saudi Arabia moves forward in its war against corruption
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 20 - 04 - 2021

Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues its war against corruption and anyone who exploits the public office to achieve personal gain or harm the public interest. This Saudi approach confirms that the country is moving forward to a better future, since the next stage needs integrity, honesty and transparency.
In this regard, the newspaper pointed to the recent statement of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) where it said that the Authority initiated 11 new corruption cases, in which senior officials from different ministries are accused. This statement is a clear indication of Saudi Arabia's determination to move forward in its war against corruption. It also affirms the continuation to pursue anyone who exploits the public office to achieve personal gain or harm the public interest in any way possible, and that the accountability extends far beyond the retirement of any individual, as the crimes of financial and administrative corruption have no statute of limitations.
The newspaper concluded that Saudi Arabia believes that the success of Vision 2030 and the implementation of its projects and programs cannot be achieved, if there is corruption in the state's institutions, especially since the vision's projects are tremendous with billions in budgets; therefore, there is an urgent need for an utmost integrity and transparency in all stages of their implementation in order to realize their goals.
In another context, Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that the unprecedented success achieved by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic since its outbreak, would not be accomplished without the directives and decisions of the wise leadership, the competent authorities exerted efforts with high efficiency, as well as the society's cooperation in implementing the precautionary and preventive measures.
After this success, unfortunately now we are facing lax in implementing preventive and precautionary measures from some people, which has led to an increase in the numbers of active and critical cases. As a result, the Ministry of Interior stressed the importance of adhering to the health precautionary measures, confirming that if the negligence continues, this may lead to reimposing strict measures including quarantining and isolating cities and neighborhoods, the newspaper added.
The statistics have shown over recent days the importance of continuing to adhere to preventive measures and adhere to the instructions issued by the concerned authorities in this regard, as they are the basis on which all concerned agencies rely on to preserve the achieved successes in confronting the pandemic, the newspaper concluded.
