A UN report that was referred to the Security Council recently held Houthis responsible for the bloody attack that targeted Aden Airport on December 30, which was carried out via ballistic missiles similar to those owned by Houthis, and were launched from areas under their control. A report by UN experts said that three bombings took place on December 30 in Aden Airport, minutes after landing of the airplane of Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik and members of the unity government that he heads, as well as other senior government officials, noting that the attack resulted in killing 20 civilians, including the Undersecretary of the Public Works Ministry Yasmeen Al-Awadi, and injuring more than 100 people, including passengers, airport employees and journalists. During the investigation, the experts noticed that the airport was hit with three accurate, short-range surface-to-surface missiles laden with segmented warheads, which are expected to be a long-range version of Badr-1 missiles, which are a part of the Houthi Militia artillery since 2018. The experts also stressed that, considering the target, it is clear that the intention was to hit the airplane that was carrying the government officials, or the VIP lounge, where they were scheduled to hold a press conference at the time of the attack. The report also said that the last-minute decision to stop the airplane away from the lounge and the unscheduled delay in the disembarkation of passengers prevented having more injuries among the government officials, in addition to the fact that two missiles, or at least one of them crashed shortly after its launch, were launched from Taiz Airport, while the other two missiles were fired apparently from a police training center in southern Thamar City, and that the missiles were launched from facilities that were under the control of Houthi militias at the time of the bombing.
