Published in Saudi Press Agency on 18 - 05 - 2020

Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that news agencies' role is represented in providing news, media information and reports objectively and in a neutral manner. The newspaper added that News Agencies in the OIC countries have a coherent vision seeking to consolidate journalism ethics and principles to serve a media system.
The newspaper also added that global agencies have succeeded in transmitting the national mission and become an important reference to various sectors. It added that the first Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) Virtual Forum, entitled "The Role of News Agencies in Supporting Anti-Coronavirus Efforts" confirms the value and the role of news agencies in serving the society and the country through transmitting news and reports, adding that the forum was held in exceptional circumstances due to the outbreak of coronavirus and its impact on the world. The newspaper said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a leading role in providing support and coordinating global efforts through its G20 Presidency. The newspaper noted that regarding the enormous challenge that coronavirus has caused, the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will be the successful road map to overcome this crisis.
In another context, Al-Yaum newspaper reported in its editorial that efforts of the government of Saudi Arabia to face coronavirus are reflected in governmental agencies performance to face the pandemic. The newspaper added that the Saudi health sector has performed its duty and been able to address the crisis. It also reported that the affirmation of Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is among the lowest in mortality rate and critical cases in the world as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, indicates that this is due to the medical care.
The newspaper noted that the speech of Minister of Health represents another image of the strength and capacity of Saudi sectors, adding that with support of the Saudi Leadership and devoted efforts, we will be able to overcome this crisis.
