Palestine and Syrian Arab Golan enjoy great place in Arab nation
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 22 - 10 - 2019

Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Muallemi said that the position of the Saudi government and people since the beginning of the Israeli occupation has been and continues to support Palestinian rights, pointing out that Palestine and the Syrian Arab Golan occupy in the Arab nation a great place that will not be removed, no matter how the occupation tries to remove it.
This came in the Kingdom's speech during the Second Economic and Financial Committee meeting on item 64 (Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources) within the 74th session of the UN General Assembly. The speech was delivered by today by Al-Muallemi.
The international community had agreed that sustainable development could not be sustainable unless it was comprehensive and just, he said, noting that the report presented to you today documented the gravity of the violations committed by the Israeli occupation and its aggressive policies.
He pointed out that the Israeli authorities continue to violate all international conventions and norms against the Palestinian people in disregard of their obligations as an occupying power in international conventions, including the Fourth Geneva Convention.
He said, "The report reviewed many of the blatant violations by Israel, including "the imposition of discriminatory policies in favor of the settlers in Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan with regard to the exploitation of land and water distribution to displace the land owners from their land and impose status quo on them."
One of the violations reviewed by the report was the severe restrictions imposed by the Israeli authorities on the movement of Palestinians, which had led to the deterioration of their economic, social and humanitarian situation, the displacement of 95 per cent of the Syrian Golan population and the demolition of 340 Syrian villages, he said.
Al-Muallemi noted that the Kingdom continues to stress that there is no justification for the continuation of these flagrant violations, especially in light of the international consensus on the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on the borders of June 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital. There is no justification for the continuation of this conflict in light of the Arab states' emphasis on achieving a comprehensive peace with Israel based on the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions, he stated.
