U.S. stocks finished slightly higher Thursday. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 43.47, or 0.2 percent, to 25,169.88. Twenty of the index's 30 components advanced, led by McDonald's and Coca-Cola, which gained 1.6 and 1.3 percent, respectively. Verizon Communications led decliners, plunging 2.3 percent. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 5.85, or 0.2 percent, to 2,788.87. Bank shares followed bond yields lower, with Bank of America dropping 2.5 percent. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 20.41, or 0.3 percent, to 7,567.72. Netflix climbed 0.8 percent, while Apple and Facebook each gained 0.5 percent. Google-parent Alphabet was little changed, and Amazon fell 0.2 percent.
