U.S. stocks soared Wednesday, with the Dow industrials posting their biggest rally in eight months. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 617.70, or 2.5 percent, to 25,366.43. Twenty-nine of the index's 30 components gained, led by industrials Caterpillar and Boeing, which each jumped about 4.9 percent on rising investor optimism about a U.S.-China trade agreement. Apple, Microsoft, UnitedHealth, Nike, and Home Depot each rose between 3 and 3.85 percent. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 61.61, or 2.3 percent, to 2,743.78. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 208.90, or 2.95 percent, to 7,291.59. Amazon and Netflix each surged 6 percent, while Google-parent Alphabet climbed more 3.5 percent.
