The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has welcomed efforts exerted by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria through preparing a report included flagrant violations of the international human rights law (IHRL) and the international humanitarian law (IHL) committed by the Syrian regime on the Syrian territories, affirming its full support of the commission's efforts. This came in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's speech delivered by Saudi ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasil before the Human Rights Council through an interactive dialogue with the Commission of Inquiry on Syria. Dr. Al-Wasil stressed that the report disclosed that the civilians in Syria are not only the unintended victims of violence, but are often deliberately targeted by illegal warfare means and methods, pointing out that the repeated attacks on the infrastructure, facilities, imposing besiege and preventing humanitarian aid exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Syria. "In spite of international urgent appeals and UN recent resolutions calling a truce and access of the humanitarian aid, the Syrian regime and its allies are still implementing military operations, particularly in Eastern Ghouta," he added. The Saudi ambassador to the UN reiterated the Kingdom's firm stance aiming to find a political solution in Syrian in accordance with "Geneva 1" Declaration and UN resolution no. 2254.
