U.S. stocks closed mixed Monday. The dollar traded 0.25 percent lower against a basket of currencies. Light sweet crude oil for February delivery dropped 3 percent to $52.30 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while gold futures added $9.79 to $1,183.20 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 58.98, or 0.30 percent, to 19,904.82. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 5.75, or 0.25 percent, to 2,271.18. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 16.34, or 0.30 percent, to 5,537.68.
