Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average rose Wednesday for the second straight day, closing above the 20,000 mark for the first time in 15 years, buoyed by positive trade data, according to dpa. The Nikkei gained 224.81 points, or 1.13 per cent, to end at 20,133.9, while the broader-based Topix index was up 12.91 points, or 0.8 per cent, at 1621.79. Japan posted a trade surplus in March for the first time in 33 months amid falling energy prices and a weaker yen, the government said in the morning. The Finance Ministry said the trade surplus stood at 229.3 billion yen (1.92 billion dollars). On currency markets at 3 pm (0600 GMT), the dollar traded at 119.58-59 yen, down slightly from Tuesday's 5 pm quote of 119.64-65 yen. The euro was quoted at 128.40-42 yen, up from 127.58-60 yen late Tuesday.
