Demonstrations carried out by hundreds of teachers in the cities of Arab Ahwaz, southwest Iran, continued in front of the education departments to protest against poor living conditions, low wages and discrimination against teachers' rights and privileges. AlArabiya Channel cited the semi-official Iranian Labor News Agency (ILNA) as saying that hundreds of teachers gathered in Ahwaz in protest against the deterioration of their living conditions. The Agency said, "they demonstrated in front of the regional Ministry of Education head office in Ahvaz, capital of the province and the city of Andimeshk and regions there," stressing that the region witnessed also, a few months ago, teachers' protests against the deterioration of the conditions there. This is the second gathering held by the teachers of these regions amid series of protests organized by teachers in different parts of Iran in recent months for the same reasons.
