India on Thursday launched electronic visa (e-visa) facilities for tourists from 43 countries including the United States, Germany and Australia in an effort to boost its tourism industry. According to dpa, tourists will no longer have to queue at local consulates and will be eligible for visas on arrival after registering online up to four days beforehand, the government said. Most Indian visas are issued at diplomatic offices abroad in a process that can take weeks.
