Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH – Indians residing in the Kingdom can now seek information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005 by paying the required fees through e-Indian Postal Order (e-IPO). India has extended the facility of e-Indian Postal Order (e-IPO) to 176 Indian missions abroad including Consulate General of India, Jeddah, according to a press release issued by the Indian consulate on Monday. India launched e-IPO this March to enable Indian citizens living abroad to purchase Indian Postal Order electronically by paying online fee for seeking information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005 through e-Post Office Portal i.e. http://www.epostoffice.gov.in To avail of the e-IPO facility, users need to register at either of the two websites: http://www.epostoffice.gov.in or www.indiapost.gov.in, select the ministry/department for seeking information under the RTI Act and the e-IPO so generated by making payment using debit or credit card. A printout of the e-IPO is required to be attached with the RTI application. If the RTI application is being filed electronically, e-IPO is required to be attached as an attachment. This facility is only for purchasing an Indian Postal Order electronically. All the requirements for filing an RTI application as well as other provisions regarding eligibility, time limit, exemptions, etc., as provided in the RTI Act 2005 will continue to apply.
