China and Cuba signed several new commercial agreements including a pledge by Beijing to pay for the construction of a new port terminal during President Xi Jinping's visit Tuesday, according to dpa. Cuban state media did not disclose the monetary amount of the deals, which include debt forgiveness and new lines of credit for the island. "China cherishes the traditional friendship between the two nations," Xi said. "No matter how the international situation changes, it will be a set policy of China to develop a long-term friendship with Cuba." He and President Raul Castro renewed the vows of ideological and commercial alliance forged 54 years ago.
