The number of dead rose to nearly 350 Saturday from the eight-storey building that collapsed this week in Bangladesh, as police remanded in custody four people including the owners of two garment factories in the building, dpa reported. The suspects taken by police were accused of forcing employees to continue to work even after cracks developed in the building a day before the collapse Wednesday in Savar, 25 kilometres north-west of Dhaka, chief police detective Monirul Islam said. Police were still searching for the building's owner, who is accused of using substandard construction materials, said Shamsul Haque Tuku, state minister for home affairs.
