AL-AHSA — Khalid Abdullah Al-Zaid won the first round of the Saudi Star Drift Championship which got off to a rousing start at King Abdullah Park at Al-Shoaiba here recently. Abdullah Bakhashab, organizer of the championship, expressed his thanks to all officials and motorsport fans who helped to make this event a big success. The second round of the Saudi Drifting Star Championship will be held at Al-Khobar Corniche in front of Fouad Center on Oct. 9. Out of 45 participants, 38 racers passed the technical tests and were qualified to participate in the first round. The competition was fierce in the equipped and modified vehicles category for professional drivers, where Al-Zaid emerged winner and qualified for the final round of the championship, which will be held in Jeddah in December. Abdulaziz Bamaus easily came first in the Advance Category and also qualified for the final round. Overall winner Al-Zaid expressed his happiness over the victory and promised a better performance in the final round. Overall standings: 1. Khalid Abdullah Al-Zaid, 2. Salman Mahmoud, 3.
