It's all set for the 1st round of the Chevrolet Speed Star Championship at the Durat Al-Arous here. The two-day event will kick off here on Wednesday. After this opening round the championship will move on to Al-Khobar and Al-Riyadh later this year. In each round participants will display their drifting-style technique in a twisting track of 1.50 km which is specifically designed for the championship. The races will be judged on timings recorded, and drivers will accumulate points from each round. Lumina SS, which is known for its great power and high flexibility on the track, is the official car. As with other Chevrolet motorsport events in the region entry is simple. One needs a rear wheel or all wheel drive car. The final results will be decided as follows: 20 points for first position, 15 for the second, 12 for the third, 10 for the fourth, 8 for the fifth, 6 for the sixth, 4 for the seventh and 2 for the eighth. The organizing committee, under the auspices of Abdullah Bakhashab Establishment for motorsport development, has completed the final preparations for the competition. Bakhashab Establishment has been organizing and developing motorsport events in the Kingdom. After the great success of the last championship, Chevrolet is moving ahead with its plans to continue supporting motorsport events in the Kingdom. Last year's competition was very successful and useful for the young who participated in the event. Even the media representatives experienced the thrill by riding along with professional drivers. Abdullah Bakhashab, motorsport developer in the kingdom and organizer of the event, expressed his happiness in organizing such events with Chevrolet motorsport team for the second year. There will be prize-money for the winners. SR10,000 for the first, SR6000 for the second and SR3000 for the third. __
