JEDDAH — The Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) launched a new tournament dubbed as 2015 JCA-Ace Initial Saudi Premier League (SPL) T-20 at a ceremony here recently.
A. A. Merchant, chief coordinator, welcomed JCA chairman Dr. Faiz Al-Abideen, representatives from sponsors and co-sponsors of SPL Shamshad Khan of Ace Travel and Tours, Mohammed Afzal of Initial Services Group, Afzal A. Sheikh of ALS Borderless Logistics, Ismail Abdul Wahab of Khind, Syed Mohammed Noorie of Arrow Food Distribution Company, Aiman Azim of Saudi Industrial Projects Company for Pepsi and Mir Murtaza Ali of UT Lines Company.
Members from other associations Jaweed Munawar, CEO of RCL; Haneef Babar, sr. vice president of RCL; Sajid Mehmood, sr. vice president of MCL; Syed Zahid Ali, president of MCA; and Sameer Nidal Khan and Hamid Rana of My Care Hala Sports Clubs, and other dignitaries from Pakistani and Indian communities also attended the ceremony.
The ceremony started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Merchant presented a brief report of JCA and detailed about the SPL. The SPL Coordination Committee includes Haroon Abdulla, A. A. Merchant, Akhtar Hussain and Syed Ashfaq Hussain. The grounds are prepared under the supervision of Aijaz Khan. JCA President Mohammed Iqbal thanked the sponsors, members of other associations, captains, umpires and scorers. Vice president Aijaz Khan stressed on discipline and sportsman spirit on and off the field.
Shamshad Khan and Mohammed Afzal appreciated the efforts of JCA and its committee members. Khan was all the more excited as their Ace Travel teams are the defending champions of the last three JCA Leagues and wished them success in the coming tournament.
JCA Chairman Al-Abideen gave an inspiring speech thanking sponsors and the JCA executive committee. He also welcomed My Care Hala clubs under Sameer Nidal Khan and Hamid Rana. He also appreciated the good work done by Sameer Khan for the promotion of the game of cricket here.
Mementoes and gifts were presented by JCA chairman to heads of all associations and media personnel. RCL also presented mementoes to JCA chairman and Sameer Khan. Syed Ashfaque Hussain of JCA proposed the vote of thanks.
