JEDDAH — A number of writers and journalists have called on ministers and senior government officials to open special accounts on the Twitter to enable citizens to communicate with them easily. So far, only three ministers have Twitter accounts. Khaled Al-Tuwaijry, chief of the Royal Court and private secretary to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, received more than 250,000 tweets in a few hours after recently launching a Twitter account. Minister of Culture and Information Abdulaziz Khoja has stressed the need for ministers and senior officials to use social media to enable citizens to reach them. Saud Katib, director of external information in Makkah, said the entry of ministers and senior officials into the realm of social media should be compulsory, not optional.
