JEDDAH - A young Saudi man has launched an account on Twitter to communicate with famous personalities in the Arab world by linking their accounts and profiles daily under the title “Twitter Arabia”. The site also presents VIPs in Saudi Arabia to other Arab citizens under the title “ Network of Arab Tweeters”. Omar Abdulaziz Al-Nahdi said the site ran on an experimental basis 2013 but has now had a proper launch. “I wanted to gather all the famous Arab personalities on one site on the social networking tools, namely Twitter,” he told Al-Nadi newspaper, a sister publication. He said the followers can easily communicate with any Arab VIP. “I found out that a large number of the Arab tweeters are good writers, intellectuals and men of letter. I was able to attract a number of writers, thinkers and journalists during the experimental period,” he said. Al-Nahdi said the site is targeting any Arab individual with thoughts or accomplishments that can benefit other Arab followers on Twitter. He said a number of Arab lawyers, medical doctors, engineers and others have joined the site. “I intend to further develop the site in the coming few days to become the largest network for social communication on Twitter in the Arab world,” he said. Al-Nahdi said he had faced a number of difficulties during the experimental period. “Most of the important personalities I contacted completely ignored me. I worked alone on the site to establish pages and accounts,” he said. Al-Nahdi denied that he had established the site with the sole purpose of making financial gains. He, however, said he would not mind making profits from the site in the future. “I only wanted to present the important Arab personalities to the followers when I first created the site,” he said. Al-Nahdi revealed that he has established partners in every Arab country to group together the largest possible number of Arab tweeters on his site. “We will be able to communicate with companies and establishments wishing to remain in contact with our customers on Twitter,” he said.
