NEXT women's wear Spring/Summer 2014
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 31 - 03 - 2014

Next unveils a forward thinking collection for SS14 mixing key florals, sports luxe and aquatic tones. Great attention to detail across clothing and accessories with embellishment and bows in abundance.
It's all about florals on the catwalk for Spring Summer 14 and these can be seen in a color palette of ochres, blacks and whites throughout our Kraftwork collection. Sheer panels are visible on boxy T-shirts and these are combined with chic monochrome prints to create effortlessly on trend looks. Culottes take over skirts and trousers for the must have shape of the season, seen paired with graphic floral print blouses.
New Wave sees a continuation of the floral trend with full blooms adorning stylish shift dresses and midi length skirts. Bright whites with highlights of exotic pink in an array of textures and prints make this the perfect transitional collection. The biker is the jacket shape seen on all the catwalks for SS14 and we've got it well covered with two-tone leather, tweed or printed styles.
Geo prints in an oceanic palette are anchored with bright whites, reflecting a noted catwalk trend in our Delft story. Longline jackets worn over bold shift dresses with a touch of sheer detailing create a no-nonsense simple silhouette. Dirndl skirts in subtle prints add charm and elegance giving this otherwise egdy collection a feminine twist.
Demi Couture highlights the emphasis on detailing for SS14 with 3D florals over sheer organza dresses. The tones for this collection are pre-dominantly monochrome and a sports luxe influence is definitely present. Ovoid tapered trousers worn with slouchy slogan T-shirts are mixed with mesh-work cut out dresses to give a fresh spring vibe. The collection is paired down with pastel tones which can be seen on embellished pieces that will see you through from day to evening in style. Fondant tones are continued throughout our Tea Rose story seen on feminine evening dresses and in chic, sheer blouses. Soft watercolor tones are present with delicate tailoring and subtle prints adding a touch of dreaminess.
When it comes to accessories for SS14 flat shoes are taking over the sky-high heels. These were seen across the catwalk in all shapes and styles, varying from elegant points to chunky brogues. The key color is nude and this can be seen in flat slippers and stylish cut out brogues. – SG
