Published in The Saudi Gazette on 13 - 03 - 2014

Faiz Al-Najdi
RIYADH — Waseem Ijaz, a Pakistani professional working in the oil industry in Saudi Arabia, is an author of high caliber. The book “The Key Within – Key to Become Rich, Live Happy and Look Younger,” is designed to serve as a tool to motivate an average person, especially the youths – of any background and nationality.
The author highlights the biggest challenge in our lives is the need to maintain balance in our day-to-day actions and decisions, while talking about important quotients that helps us achieve balance. Mind's Intelligence as IQ – Intelligence Quotient; Heart Intelligence as EQ – Emotional Quotient; Body Intelligence as PQ – Physical Quotient; and Soul Intelligence as SQ – Spiritual Quotient.
The author maintains that it is vital to consciously grow all four quotients in order to achieve an overall balance in life. He encourages readers to carry out a self-analysis and rate themselves on a scale of zero to 10 as to where they stood vis-a-vis their health, energy, and physical appearance (PQ); on their relationship with family, friends and colleagues (EQ); on their career growth and financial stability (IQ); and, on their moral values and connection with their Creator for a peaceful inner soul (SQ).
The book provides the reader insights and effective ways to improve all four quotients. And, once achieved the outcome of balance would enrich reader's life inside out.
The author tries to explain the mysteries of life and the issues that bother common minds. He talks about two minds that each human is blessed with — conscious and the sub-conscious. The conscious mind works on logic and focuses on one issue at a given time, while the sub-conscious mind is designed to do multitasking instead. The author underscores the need of creating strengths in mind – both conscious and sub-conscious — and to engage in rational thinking which is the best and positive approach to tackling any problem.
The book stresses on taking good care of one's health with emphasis on mind, heart, body, and soul needing to stay fit in order to acquire overall health. Good health helps one enjoy wealth. The book also factors in physical appearance to get ahead in life, stating that those who have presentable appearance have distinctive advantage over others.
The writer also advocates the importance in inculcating good, friendly and loving relationships with all surrounding us in order to be happy — and hence in good mental and physical health. The ingredients that help in having better relationships with others include: respect for others, sense of empathy, flexibility in attitude, helping others, gratitude, taking responsibility, building trust, act of forgiving and act of saying sorry – if needed.
The decisions that we take every day and every moment influence and impact our lives. In return it also affects those we encounter and cross paths with. The author talks about making continuous efforts for bettering our lives, Finally, he draws attention to one essential element. That is, in order to be happy, healthy and to have peace of mind it is necessary to be wealthy. According to the author, many around us do not know how to earn and manage money. The tricks to better manage money and hence become rich and ultimately be happy and healthy are in fact simple. One needs to first learn how to save, and then learn how to grow savings.
