Indian School holds alumni sports meet

JEDDAH — The International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) Alumni Association, under the patronage of IISJ, organized a two-day sports meet for its male and female alumni here recently.
The event, named IISJAAympics 2014, was the first of its kind planned by IISJAA executive committee.
In all 160 alumni — 104 male and 56 female — participated in various games and track events. Among the games were: badminton and table tennis, while the track events included 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m races along with long jump and shot put.
While the male events were conducted at IISJ boys' section, the female events ran at the girls' section. Marvel Realty, a real estate promoting company based in India, sponsored the event. Blueberry Concepts and Designs was the co-sponsor. The alumni of IISJ own both the companies.
The IISJ physical education teachers helped the organizing committee with the logistics, judging and formatting the activities.
Ghouse Mohiuddin, Head of Department of Sports at the boys' section and Mrs. Ranjeet Kaur, HoD Sports at the girls' section, played vital roles. Sports instructors Vijender, Nadeem Farouqi, Imran and Mrs. Panth were instrumental in referring and managing the events.
The closing ceremony was held on the last day of the events at the auditorium of IISJ Boys School. IISJAA president Asim Zeeshan welcomed the guests, participants and winners of the events.
Syed Masood Ahmed, Principal of IISJ, was nostalgic in his speech. The chairman of the IISJ Managing Committee, Dr. Haroon Rasheed, was the chief guest on the occasion. IISJAA coordinator and Head Master Open School C.P. Joy congratulated the participants for their enthusiasm.
Mrs. Farah Masood, Vice Principal of the girls' section, received a warm welcome. Her motherly affection is still fresh among her former students. IISJAA Gen. Sec. Fareed Sardar Khan conducted the proceedings of the closing ceremony.
IISJ was established in 1969 as the first community school for Indians residing in the region. IISJAA committee encourages more alumni to register themselves on the school website http://www.iisjed.com/Alumni.aspx.
