IIS Dammam bounces back

JEDDAH: International Indian School Dammam (IISD) bounced back into the reckoning with a powerful display on the second day of athletics of the 20th Cluster Meet of the CBSC-affiliated schools in the Kingdom here Tuesday.
Dominating the track and throw events boys from Dammam ruled the roost at the International Stadium to check the run of hosts. Of the 23 finals that took place at the IISJ premises for girls and at the international stadium for boys Dammam bagged 10 titles. Incidentally all the gold medals were grabbed by boys.
However, with the combined efforts of boys and girls hosts IISJ maintained its form with 10 first places – 6 by boys and 4 by girls. The other three crowns went to IIS Riyadh, Yara International School Riyadh and DPS Jeddah.
Apart from dominating the relay races, which will boost its overall points, the boys from Dammam showed their power in throw events and speed on track. To cap it all, their Aakarsh Jack clinched a double by sweeping 200 and 400 meters races in the Under-16 section.
In the prestigious basketball event, IIS Dammam and IIS Jeddah which beat IIS Riyadh in league matches, will lock horns in the final.
