Munch Bakery lifts Ace Travels Cup

JEDDAH — Munch Bakery beat Jamco by 7 wickets to lift the Ace Travels Afternoon League Cup in the JCA-organized tournament here recently. Jamco scored 212 in its quota of 25 overs after electing to bat first. The decision back-fired as its prolific openers Khurram and Faisal were soon back in the pavilion. Faisal could not open his account, while Khurram was out for 23. Tariq (41) and Tahir (15) took the score to 50, while Nazim added 34, Sarfaraz 29, Ilyas 20 and Shiraz remained unbeaten on 17.
Umar was the most successful bowler. He gave away 32 runs for his 3 wickets. Shahid bagged 2-36, while Saleem, Mubashir and Tariq claimed a wicket each.
Munch Bakery openers Tariq and Mubeen provided a sound start by putting on 85 for the first wicket. Tariq hammered 55 off 28 balls. Mubeen added 57 while Saleem remained unbeaten on 38. Zainul Salikeen hit 22. Mustafa hit 2 sixes and a four on consecutive deliveries which enabled Munch Bakery to cross the target with 3 overs to spare. Tahir claimed all the 3 wickets, which fell for 50 runs. Jamco tried 7 bowlers.
Young Stars and Peeran-X1 faced each other in match for the 3rd spot. Young Stars put on 181-2. Arsalan was once again among the runs. He scored 104 (13 boundaries). In reply, Peeran-X1 fell short by 4 runs as it scored 177. Kareem scored 26 (2x4 and 2x6), while Shakeel and Abdul Basit added 10 each.
Fahad could not open his account. Adnan added 43 off 17 balls (4x4 and 3x6). Abdul Ahad hit 36, while Zaheer and Shani remained unbeaten on 7 and 5, respectively. Nadeem and Bilal claimed 2 wickets each for 22 and 6 runs, respectively. Arsalan, Bilal Pervez and Yaser claimed one wicket each for 22, 28 and 10 runs, respectively.
