RIYADH — Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb has donated blood, launching the national blood donation campaign program at the Ministry of Tourism, with broad participation from the senior officials and employees of the ministry. This follows the launching of the national drive by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on Thursday to promote the values of humanitarian work and encourage various segments of society to involve in this noble act for saving lives. The Ministry of Health announced that 185 accredited blood donation centers are fully equipped to provide safe health services that meet the highest quality standards in various cities and regions across the Kingdom. Members of the Saudi Council of Senior Scholars praised the Crown Prince for his blood donation and the launch of the annual national blood donation campaign. They highlighted that the initiative embodies the spirit of generosity and communal solidarity advocated by Islam, emphasizing that blood donation is a noble act of humanity that helps save lives and enhance public health. The council members remarked that the Crown Prince's gesture sets a powerful example for all to follow, inspiring a revival of cooperation and charitable efforts within the community. They urged all citizens, both men and women, to actively join the national blood donation campaign to ease the suffering of patients and those in need. The Ministry of Health urged citizens and residents to take part in the annual blood donation campaign, affirming that donation is available through two options: either by directly visiting blood donation centers across the Kingdom or by booking electronically through the 'Sehhaty' application. The initiative aims to promote voluntary blood donation and raise health awareness, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to build a vibrant, healthy society rooted in social solidarity and humanitarian contribution. The ministry called on all members of society to foster the culture of humanitarian contribution through blood donation and to access details of the designated centers via the following link: https://www.moh.gov.sa/eServices/interactive-maps/Documents/blood-donation-centers-map.pdf The campaign aims at raising awareness of the importance of voluntary blood donation and achieving self-sufficiency in blood and its components, thus ensuring safe and sustainable supplies that meet the needs of beneficiaries. A single donation contributes to saving lives by providing a unit of blood, plasma, or platelets.
