MAKKAH — The life of an Algerian pilgrim, who suffered from brain tumor, was saved through a seven-hour-long surgery in Makkah. A specialized medical team at the Neuroscience Center of King Abdullah Medical City, a member of the Makkah Health Cluster, successfully saved the life of the 70-year-old pilgrim by surgical removal of a large brain tumor. The Makkah Health Cluster reported that the pilgrim lost consciousness at the Algerian Hajj mission's headquarters, necessitating his urgent transfer to King Faisal Hospital. After conducting the necessary tests, it was decided to transfer him to King Abdullah Medical City. A detailed checkup with a CT scan revealed the presence of a brain tumor that required immediate surgical intervention. The neurosurgery and anesthesiology team performed a successful, precise, and complex procedure that lasted for seven hours. The medical team managed to remove the tumor completely, enabling the patient to regain consciousness. The surgery was carried out with the cooperation of the neurology care, neurosciences ward, and physical therapy teams. The pilgrim was discharged from the hospital in good health, returning to his mission's headquarters to complete his Hajj rituals. The pilgrim expressed his deep gratitude to the medical team for their tremendous efforts, praising the high level of healthcare he received, which will help him fulfill his dream of completing lifetime spiritual journey. It was pointed out that the surgery reflects the ability of King Abdullah Medical City to handle complex medical cases and provide the best levels of healthcare for pilgrims and visitors.
