Lulu launches fourth annual food festival
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 27 - 04 - 2013

RIYADH — From nutritional and healthy, to the indulgent naughty but nice, LuLu Hypermarkets comes alive during its 17-day fourth annual food festival which opened on April 24 and will last until May 10.
On this occasion, LuLu Hypermarket's hot food and other sections join forces to bring Saudis and expatriates its annual culinary festival designed to celebrate its “fabulously diverse” range of food.
“Irrespective of whether you're a stick-to-what-you-know type or a culinary adventurist, you will enjoy the food,” the company said in a statement.
Mohammed Muhsin Al-Othaibi was the chief guest to inaugurate LuLu “Food Fiesta” festival at LuLu Hypermarket, Murabba, Riyadh, on April 24, at 8:30 p.m.
Muhzin Al-Marzooki, Director of Public Relations, Dammam Municipality, was the chief guest to inaugurate the “Food Fiesta” campaign in Al-khobar on same day at 5:00 p.m.
The main attraction during the inauguration day was the record breaking size doughnut at LuLu Murabba and chocolate cake at LuLu, Alkhobar.
This year LuLu ‘Food Fiesta' Festival was split into six mouth-watering portions.
From April 24 to 26, there was a ‘continental fest', wherein customers enjoyed succulent steaks and grilled foods with rich pastas and snacks to go!
On April 27 and 28, there will be a “meat fest” and LuLu will exhibit wide ranges of local and imported high quality meat and other meat-related food products.
For the first time in Saudi Arabia, LuLu is conducting ‘Vita Days' on April 29 and 39 for health conscious customers.
“We will have a range of items provided to help improve and support health and vitality, which are needed today with our busy lifestyle, gathered from across the globe for our customers,” the company said.
Celebrating the flavor of lip-smacking Biryani dishes, LuLu is holding a food fest titled “Wah! Biryani Fest” during which it will present “an amalgamation of various kinds of Biryani”.
The Biryani Fest starts on May 1 up to May 3. And there will be Saudi “Fest & Bake Fest” from May 4 to 7.
“The most delicious weekend won't stop there. Nationals as well as expatriates will be able to taste many gastronomic delights ranging from Arabic and Indian cuisines to continental and oriental delicacies, cooked and supplied by local chefs and presented as street food,” the company said.
“Sweets prepared by our experts in the bakery section will be the special attraction of our ‘Bake Fest' event.”
To cater for Far Eastern taste buds, LuLu is conducting “Oriental Fest” from May 8 to 10, during which the “Hot Food section will be ready to serve Chinese and Thai dishes.
“We will take you on a journey from Indian curries, to Italian pizza and pasta, Mediterranean kebabs to English fish and chips! Spanish paella, Thai dishes, Japanese sushi to African and Caribbean flavorful cuisines, and that's just for starters,” Lulu said.
“It will be a time for the whole family to roll up their sleeves and enjoy a whole-host of live cooking demonstrations and workshops. There is also a chance to get those burning culinary questions answered at our festival food clinic.”
During Food Festival weeks LuLu's other departments like Roastery, Garments, Electronics, Home Appliances, Household, among others, will offer special festival discounts and great deals.
“There's so much going on at this year's food festival, which is going to be a great day out for all the family,” says Shafeek Rahman, General Manager, LuLu Hypermarket, Murabba. — SG
