AFIF — The Appeals Court in Riyadh has ordered a doctor to pay SR150,000 to the family of a patient who died after being treated by him. The amount represents half of the usual blood money, as the court found the doctor guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter. The court rejected the appeal by the doctor, who is a general surgeon at a Afif hospital. The court said the medical committee's evidence was enough to prove the doctor's negligence. The patient was taken to the emergency room of the hospital suffering from injuries following a car accident. The patient's family said the hospital did not attend to the case immediately and the patient began vomiting blood and died. The medical committee had approved the findings of a preliminary committee, which said the doctor took too long to attend to the patient.
