MUHARRAQ — Two persons were accused of forging coronavirus test certificates were sentenced to one year in prison in Bahrain, for attempting to enter Saudi Arabia. Abdullah Al-Dosari, head of the Muharraq Public Prosecution, stated that the Fourth High Criminal Court had issued its verdict in the case by convicting the accused and punishing each of them with imprisonment for one year. The Public Prosecution in Bahrain said that it had received a report from the King Fahd Causeway Directorate, that the defendants, after crossing the bridge, submitted a forged coronavirus test certificate in an attempt to enter the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The security man discovered the forgery due to the fact the defendants had changed the date recorded. The Public Prosecution Office began investigation and interrogation of the accused as soon as the report was received. The accused were arrested and presented to the Public Prosecution, and it ordered their referral to the competent court after they confessed to forgery, and ordered the defendants to be sentenced to one year in prison. The chief prosecutor warned that tampering with the results of the coronavirus test and forgery constitute serious crimes, punishable by imprisonment for up to ten years.
