The prince's interview
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 18 - 06 - 2021

It was an interview that transmitted a lot of signals, semantics, and policies since the moment, time, and date the program was announced until the details of the interview, including choosing the satellite TV channel, the program and details of the dialogue that was greatly gratifying and entertaining to follow.
With the interview, we enjoyed the Eid Al-Fitr feast so much that it can be likened to two feasts at the same time. The reason is that the interview was full of glad tidings during the holy month of Ramadan, an occasion replete with bounties.
Furthermore, the interview coincided with the 27th night of Ramadan, considered by many Muslims to be the most important night of the month of fasting. It also coincided with the 4th anniversary for the pledge of allegiance to Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, as Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The interview was praised by many countries and organizations, after Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman had spoken on the nation's foreign policy —addressing the Gulf, Arab, Islamic, and world dimensions and the brotherly and friendly countries. It was also addressed to the regional powers in the Middle East.
He explained that the Kingdom's well-established, consolidated policy is that of peace and love towards all the peoples of the world, based on good neighborliness, respect for the uniqueness of every country and noninterference or meddling in its affairs.
It was a dialogue addressed to all the legislative, judicial and executive authorities with all their security, civil and rights sectors so as to stress on institutional work, the rule of law, transparency, clarity, and frankness in all matters. It addressed all and has become a road map for society through a program with clear features and goals.
It was an interview meant to develop the judicial authority and strengthen the position and status of people practicing law. It was also meant to develop the legal and rights work through education and training with the objective of strengthening the social and criminal justice system, in turn, protecting and supporting society, the family, economy and investment.
It was a dialogue asserting that extremism by individuals is rejected, whether it is by a citizen or expatriate working in the private or public sector in any of the judicial, rights or security authorities, commissions or ministries.
On the other hand, institutional extremism is also rejected and banned. Therefore, there is no immunity for any religious, Shariah, legal, security, or civil institution or for any individual. Extremism, before terrorism, is an incriminated term according to the Shariah and law and is punishable by both.
Therefore, extremism must be uprooted so that moderation prevails and individuals and institutions deal with one another, in line with the rule of law and within its bounds.
In his direct address to the citizen, resident and those who have an interest in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Prince of Law and Saudi Vision 2030 tackled many very important headlines and phraseologies, having deep meanings.
The Crown Prince's interview was addressed to the youth and the elites in the various sectors and at different levels of authority from various regions.
It was with the transparency and clarity of a leader, who is confident and sure about his specific goals and the aim to serve the religion and nation for a bright future full of bounties and good for the generations.
It was for these future generations that the King of decisiveness and determination, Salman Bin Abdulaziz, had drawn up the plans and laid the foundations for the forthcoming 100 years, because he is the reformist leader for the Saudi state, which was founded by the late King Abdulaziz (May Allah Almighty have mercy on his soul).
The architect of the Vision, Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman has asserted that institutional planning has enabled us to talk about 2040 and for sure 2050 and beyond it, have been taken into consideration because we are living within an institutional sphere of the modern state that plans and carries out for the benefit of the nation, within a comprehensive, modern framework, away from the restrictions of oil and conventional administration.
The latter resulted in haphazard monopolistic practices in the whole private sector, which cannot be classified as any other than the actual status of a primitive real estate development sector.
The Prince repeated "the law" several times during his interview, which indicates that there are radical revisions of the functions of the judicial and legislative authorities, on an equal footing, which will see the light in the near future.
In this regard, the world is experiencing what can be termed as "the universality" of legislations that are being issued by the international and world organizations.
These organizations are acceptable globally because they take into consideration the uniqueness and special characteristics of countries, including our uniqueness, as the Kingdom considers the Holy Qur'an and the Traditions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as the overall constitution of this land of the Two Holy Mosques.
The identity ought to be reflected in the laws, the judiciary and all the businesses and functions, including the consolidated basic constant principles, without any intellectual or institutional violation or extremism that stymie the role of individual personal opinion and judgment for the interest of collective unified institutional work that will enable lawyers to forecast the legal and judicial outcomes.
It should suffice us, the lawyers, to be proud that the Crown Prince has touched on our profession, hence, confirming its status in the judicial authority and its basic role in the criminal and social justice, human rights, and the overall work in the legal and rights domain.
This is mainly in explaining to the citizen the nature of the citizen's relationship and its determinants, whatever his position vis-a-vis the state and its institutions, so that we can reach a state of permanent conformity between all of the state powers and the various state sectors and institutions.
As I have mentioned earlier, we do not, nor shall we, fear anyone, as our constitution is the Holy Qur'an, and there is the Al Saud family that has devoted itself to the service of the religion and nation, and the late King Abdulaziz (May Allah have mercy on his soul) is the founder king, and our father, King Salman, is the reformist king.
And together with our Crown Prince, the Prince of Law and the Rule of Law, we shall work and strive towards prosperity after prosperity, generation after generation, so that our Kingdom will remain as resolute and firm as the deep-rooted and immovable majestic Tuwaiq Mountains throughout the times, always at the forefront in the ranks of the First World, till the day Allah Almighty inherits the Earth and all the creatures on it.
This country is guarding the Holy Qur'an, the religion, the Sunnah {the Traditions of the Prophet (peace be upon him)} and the Two Holy Mosques with its strong people, who derive their strength from their prudent leadership.
