JEDDAH — Dr. Maha Badawi, the director of Blood Transfusion Service at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, inaugurated blood donation camps organized by the Jeddah Central committee of Indian Social Forum (ISF). The camps were held at King Abdulaziz University Hospital and King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah to mark the 90th Saudi National Day celebrations. Scores of ISF volunteers from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and north Indian states came forward to donate blood at the camps. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Dr. Maha said this great event reminds the historic relationship between Saudi Arabia and the Indian community. "The initiative of Indian Social Forum to conduct such camps was the testimony to the forum's commitment to the Saudi society and to the Kingdom in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and its keenness to provide unrestrained medical support to all," she said. Abdul Ghani, the vice president of ISF Jeddah central committee, chaired the function. Ashraf Morayur, Saudi national coordinator of ISF, Prof. Salwa Hendavi, the chairperson of the Society for Blood Transfusion and Research, Dr. Tariq and Dr. Nihal delivered felicitation speeches. ISF Jeddah general-secretary Alikoya Chaliyam welcomed the gathering and Program Coordinator Al-Aman Ahmed proposed the vote of thanks. The central committee president E.M. Abdullah, Mujahid Pasha Bangalore, Sayyid Kalandar, Beerankutty Koyissan, Nasar Khan Nagercoil, Faisal Mampad, Haneefa Kizhisseri and Shahul Hameed were among the organizers of the event.
