Slight drop in new Saudi corona cases
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 21 - 06 - 2020

RIYADH — As coronavirus restrictions were lifted in the Kingdom, there was a slight drop in the daily number of cases on Sunday. The health ministry reported 3,379 new infections over the past 24 hours increasing the total infections to 157,612.
Thirty-seven people who had previously tested positive for the virus have died, taking the death toll to 1,267.
Despite an increase in daily cases, the Kingdom continues to see more recoveries which have reached 101,130 as of June 21 after 2,213 new recoveries were recorded.
Health ministry continued to urge people to comply with precautionary measures such as avoiding crowds and gatherings, wearing a face mask and maintaining social distancing.
Infection rate in the Kingdom had been decreasing till early June when the number of infections increased again. The ministry said this is directly connected to the lack of compliance with precautionary measures.
Riyadh with 668 cases continued to top the list. It was followed by 342 cases in Jeddah, 340 in Makkah, 225 in Dammam, 216 in Qatif, 179 in Taif, 165 in Madinah, 127 in Khamis Mushayt and 102 in Hufof. There were 77 infections each in Al-Khobar and Hail, 69 in Najran, 59 in ABha, 51 in Buraidah, 40 each in Jubail and Safwa, 39 in Mubarraz, 37 in Hafr Al-Batin and 27 each in Ras Tanura and Al-Kharj.
The rest of the cases were scattered in different regions of the country, the ministry said.
