Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – Indian Consul General Mohammed Noor Rahman Sheikh urged students to keep focused without distraction and work hard relentlessly to bring out the best output that will help pass the examination to take up India's prestigious civil service posts. The consul general made the remarks in his keynote speech at the concluding session of the two-day workshop organized by MICS (Monumental Inspiration into Civil Service) for the students of classes 9-12 at the Boys' Section auditorium of International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) recently. Students from various International Indian schools in Jeddah participated in various sessions aimed to create awareness and develop the competency of the aspirants of civil services, based on the latest requirements of the examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission of India. "Setting your objective and select the stream of your choice and confidence will help you to keep undistracted," the consul general advised the students, and added: "However, preparation for civil service being a time consuming process you have to remain focused and work hard relentlessly to achieve your goals and materialize your dream." Quoting from his experience in preparing for the examination with his narration of several examples, the consul general inspired the students. "It is not necessary that you choose a particular stream to get in to civil services, but good knowledge and critical thinking is very important when you are preparing to crack the civil services examination," he said while urging them to strive to become the best to achieve their ambitions and make full use of the workshop to prepare for getting into the reputed stream of civil service profession. In his speech, Abdul Ghani, chairman of MICS Academy, urged the students to remain grateful to their parents and teachers for inspiring them and appealed the parents not to suppress the questioning mind of their children, which would help them to grow strong in mind as well as body. Mohammed Alungal, president of Abeer Medical Group, Dr. Muzaffar Hassan, principal of IISJ, Ashraf Morayur, president of Central Committee of JeddahIndian Social Forum (ISF), Fayazuddin, regional president of JeddahIndia Fraternity Forum (IFF), Azeezurrab, senior advisor of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA), and Yusuf delivered felicitation speeches. Al Aman Ahmed, secretary of MICS Academy, welcomed the gathering. The workshop, which began with the recitation of a few verses of the Holy Qur'an by Junaina Hameed (IISJ), was inaugurated by Mohammed Ghazanfar Alam, chairman of IISJ managing committee. He appreciated the efforts of MICS in helping the students carry out their responsibility toward the welfare of the community and the nation. Farhadunnisa, vice principal of IISJ, urged the aspiring students to do their best to win the civil services examination. In his speech, Peter Ronald, principal of New Al Wurood International School, congratulated the efforts of MICS for inspiring expatriate students, which is a rare opportunity for them to get to know about civil services examination. E.M Abdullah, general secretary of ISF, proposed the vote of thanks. In his session, K.P. Ashif, head of Faculty of MICS Academy, explained the structure and pattern of civil services examination with updated information related to the preliminary and main examinations and the interview as well. He gave insights into other major Indian competitive examinations. Ashif held another session for the seniors who had attended last year's MICS program, with updated information about civil services and the changes in the examination as well. Abu Sali, faculty member of a reputed civil services institute, distributed a complete set of notes to students so as to enable them to concentrate on their preparation for the civil service examination. Ashif led the session for the parents that focused on the "role and prospects of higher academics." Certificates and prizes were distributed among the winners of "Competitive Talent Search" (civil service preliminary model examination) among the aspirants by Consul General Sheikh, Mohammed Alungal, Dr. Muzaffar Hassan; Qamar Sada, secretary, Indian Pilgrims' Welfare Forum; Mir Ghazanfar Ali Zaki, general secretary of Saudi Indian Business Network; Azeezurabb, Faizuddin, and Azim Zeeshan, executive committee member of AMOUBA. Zeeshan and Mohammed Mukhtar were the masters of ceremony.
