Ijaz, Najjam and Taraq shine in S:Mile Cup

JEDDAH — The fourth week of JCT VII Cricket Championship witnessed some remarkable individual performances as the teams gear up for a place in the knockout stage.
Ijaz from Classic Friends Puttur put up a belligerent batting and scored 86 off 45 balls against 3Star CC to help his team post 158 in the allotted 15 overs after they were 3 down with not much on the board. In reply, 3Star CC could muster only 90.
Najjam from KSA Blue showed great determination in scoring 66 not out off 44 balls after opening the batting to help his team post 111 against 777 Brothers which they defended easily to win by 15 runs.
In a low scoring thriller, tournament organizers Azizia Deccan playing their second league match against KSA Yellow were reduced to 30 for 6 in chasing a lowly 58 before Maqbool and Asif joined hands to guide them home without further hiccups.
Earlier, KSA Yellow having opted to bat was moving briskly at 49 for 5, when Man of the Match Taraq Nadeem came in and picked up 4 wickets in 9 balls to bundle it out for 57.
In another tense encounter, Munawar Ali from Super Chargers held his nerve to defend 5 runs off the final over against Salama Falcons to help his team secure their first win of the season.
The tournament is organized by Azizia Deccan, mainly sponsored by S:Mile and powered by Al-Salem York. It is also supported by Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC) and co-sponsored by Datco, Biryani House, B-Cola and Captains cafeteria.
