Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 02 - 2019

BREAKBULK Middle East, the GCC's leading breakbulk and project cargo sector event, is a few days away. The fourth annual edition will be held under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, the UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development and the Chairman of Federal Transport Authority for Land and Maritime. As the two-day exhibition quickly approaches, the main conference topics have been finalized. Likewise, those interested in registering for this industry prominent event set to take place on Feb. 11-12 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, in Dubai, UAE, are running out of time to secure their seat.
Speaking about the event's importance, Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, the UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development and the Chairman of Federal Transport Authority for Land and Maritime, said "the UAE continual aspirations to achieve excellence are sought out through constantly improving its infrastructure to be recognized as a globally renowned powerhouse. A major factor which contributes to the country's vision of consistent growth can also be attributed to the success of our neighboring GCC countries. The organizers of this year's event have done a tremendous job in shedding light to this correlation, through establishing such topics that will facilitate effective discussions."
Eng. Ahmed Al Khouri, Director-General of the Federal Authority for Land and Maritime Transport added, "The UAE's firm commitment to fostering its shipping infrastructure and functionality involves addressing key points of focus which can be greater strengthened. The successful realization of this concept involves all aspects of the shipping industry, including optimization of cargo transport, implementing methods of lowering operational costs while still maintaining elite efficiency, and establishing programs, which will properly nurture the next set of maritime professionals that our Emirate will rely on for future decades. Though topical dialogues centered on these areas of focus are essential, attendees who are willing to listen contribute ideas, and advocate change are equally important. Through the years, Breakbulk Middle East has established a notoriety for creating engaging discussion between individuals who can formulate change, and this year's event should only further demonstrate that."
Similarly, Ben Blamire, the event's Commercial Director, expressed his excitement for this year's quickly approaching event. He said "for a multitude of reasons, this year's edition is a major milestone for Breakbulk Middle East. Primarily, it's the first year which we have received such strong support from extremely reputable UAE government officials like H.E Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi and Eng. Ahmed Al Khouri, two key figures who we are thrilled to have on board. By working in close collaboration, we were able to identify specific themes that would best elevate the UAE, and the regional break bulk reputation and we are certain that this will be evident to all attendees and participants involved."
Leslie Meredith, Marketing Director, Breakbulk Events & Media, said, "Even as registration for this year's edition winds down, the 2019 edition of BBME has already shattered previous years' records. In regards to all facets of the event, Breakbulk Middle East 2019 is poised to remain on an upward trajectory for the fourth consecutive year as we have seen a 36 percent uptick in attendee registration, along with increased country participation, industry involvement and of course the support of esteemed authorities such as the UAE Ministry of Infrastructure and Development, and the Federal Transport Authority for Land and Maritime. We have consciously approached this year's event with the intent of ensuring agenda topics reflect the needs of all those involved, and seek to inspire relevant discussion that enhance the overall landscape of the UAE, its maritime stability, and naturally the breakbulk sector."
