Maryam Al-Sughayyar Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The wife of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah called on female members of the Shoura Council to be patient regarding the responsibilities they have been assigned. During a ceremony at Princess Nora Bint Abdulrahman University to honor female members of the Shoura Council on Tuesday night, Princess Hessa Al-Shaalan said: “The female members are an elite of experienced women who have illuminated the council. Meanwhile, president of the university Dr. Huda Al-Ameel said: “Since Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah announced his decision to appoint women in the Shoura Council and grant them the right to nominate and vote in the municipal councils, we have been waiting for this decisive moment in women's history in our country when they would carry out their role in decision-making hand-in-hand with men.” Al-Ameel said the actual development of society could not be achieved except with the full participation of women in all social, political, economic and scientific activities. Al-Ameel thanked King Abdullah for his support for the advancement of Saudi women. She said were it not for his care and great confidence in Saudi women, they would not have achieved anything.
