Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Princess Hessah Al-Shaalan, the wife of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, will sponsor a ceremony to honor women members of the Shoura Council, a local newspaper reported Tuesday. The ceremony will be organized by Princess Nora Bint Abdulrahman University at its conference center in Riyadh's Al-Narjis neighborhood. University dean Huda Al-Emile thanked Princess Hessah for sponsoring the event, which she said was an indication of the care that Saudi women receive from the country's leadership. She said the new Shoura members are prominent Saudi women known locally and internationally for their scientific and professional prowess. They have achieved many accomplishments and are now participants in the decision-making process, she said. Their participation in the Shoura is a quality addition to the council that will emphasize women's role in society, she claimed. Al-Emile said this ceremony comes at a time when the country is witnessing new developments. It will enforce women's participation in national issues and help the country face international changes, said Al-Emile. She prayed to God to ensure the success of the members and to protect the King.
