RIYADH — The Prince Salman Center for Disability Research (PSCDR) has pushed back the date for announcing the winners of the coveted Prince Salman Award for Disability Research to October this year. Nasser Bin Ali Al-Mousa, secretary general of the award committee, said this year the award will be granted in three different categories: health and medical sciences, pedagogical and educational sciences, and rehabilitative and social sciences. "These areas have been selected to encourage research that is on par with global developments in scientific research on disabilities," he said while adding that each award carries a certificate, medal and a cash prize of SR250,000. Al-Mousa said in the past the award was granted by the Disabled Children's Association but after the center was established, it was entrusted with the task of granting the award due to its specialization in disability research. He further added that the objectives of the award include stimulating endeavors at the local, regional and international levels for the enrichment of advanced scientific knowledge in different fields of disability research. The award will be distributed every two years with the exception of the first three-year preparatory session. The names of the winners will be announced one month prior to the award ceremony. — SG
