JEDDAH — Police are currently questioning a 35-year-old Somali woman accused of stealing purses from women inside shopping malls. The woman was arrested after a Saudi woman shopper found her purse missing from her shopping cart. She suspected a woman rushing to the exit door of stealing the purse and alerted her husband who in turn asked the guards to stop the woman. The woman tried to slip away and hide in the clothes section of the store, but was finally stopped. Police were called in. The woman was frisked but the purse was not found on her. At first, the woman denied any wrongdoing and claimed she was an ordinary shopper. Police then searched the clothing section and found the purse hidden there. When they threatened to take fingerprints, the woman tried to escape confirming her guilt. She was arrested immediately and police are questioning her to find out whether she was involved in other crimes.
