Ronaldo Z. Concha Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — As the month of Ramadan approaches, Filipinos in Jeddah are all set to welcome the month of worship. Filipino expatriates find Ramadan, a holy month for all Muslims, a special time of the year and an opportunity for self-renewal and a time to develop mutual respect and understanding among communities regardless of religious beliefs. Filipinos living in Jeddah expressed their happiness and excitement on the coming of Ramadan. Reymon Martinez said Ramadan is a very special time as he can feel the spirit of love and care during this month. Reeham Nour Amil Aliman said she is very thankful to Allah for having the chance to fast again. “This holy month I will try to clear my time from all distractions and all extra activities and try to devote my time to worship and charity.” Orly Portugal, a Christian, said “I see Ramadan as a wonderful experience and admire how Muslims devote their time in renewing their faith.” Consul General Uriel Norman Garibay of the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah, greeted the Filipino Muslims on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, with the blessing, “May God accept all your prayers and may you be blessed with his love and protection.” He also announced the new timings of the consulate during the month of Ramadan. The consulate will be open from Saturday to Wednesday from 10 A.M. until 3 P.M.
