Maya and Diet Center set up JBL finals

Maya International and Diet Center scored enthralling wins to set up JBL Inter-Company finals showdown at the Bin Mahfouz Basketball Court here.
Maya International coached by Manuel Cabansag beat Nissan Alhamrani 83-65. Maya came prepared to take revenge for its loss to Nissan in the elimination round. Alhamrani tried hard to contain Maya but ran out of steam. Jojo Castillo top scored with 33 points for Maya and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game, while Corpuz scored 25 points for Alhamrani.
The tournament is sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN — The Filipino Channel, Al-Haddaf Sports Wear (Bayoumi), Wael Sports Wear (Noel) and Saudi Signs (Sam Adora).
Diet Center, meanwhile, beat the favorite Al-Saad Construction 65-62 to grab a spot in the Inter-Company Division A finals. The winner showed heart in crucial situations. Playing coach Rudolp Arabia managed to convert crucial baskets to score a personal high 27 points for Diet Center and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game, while Charlie Bioca led Al-Saad with 18 points.
In another game, Petro Rabigh of Jun Agpalo beat ALJ CPD 79-60. Petro Rabigh played run-and-gun offense to break ALJ's defensive wall in the final quarter. Noblejas had 18 points for Petro Rabigh and was adjudged the Al-Haddaf Player of the Game, while Montano Dela Cruz chipped in with 18 points for ALJ.
In Friday action, Nesma defeated Jeddah Eagles 70-60. The winner managed to control the tempo all throughout the game. TJ scored 23 points for Nesma and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. Tarek scored 19 points for the Eagles.
Another match saw Toyota Genuine Parts of Coach Ismail Perey edge Al-Khorayef 83-81. Al-Khorayef had almost won the game when a passing error in the dying seconds of the game gave Toyota the chance to play the best of three championship series against Smat Jeddamonz. Paul Gerald Taguba scored 22 points for Toyota and was named the Wael Player of the Game. Llanita led Al-Khorayef with 23 points.
Smat Jeddamonz of coach Elmer Tendero, meanwhile, beat STC 68-61. Smat Jeddamonz held its nerve in the final quarter to claim victory. Rex Ablaza top scored with 24 points for Smat Jeddamonz and was adjudged the Saudi Sign Player of the Game. Erwin Vista scored 20 points for STC. __
