Manarat School hosts AdvancEd conference

JEDDAH – Ma'arif for Education and Training Company held the AdvancEd Global conference at Manarat Jeddah International School under the supervision of Dr. Walid Domiyati, general director of Ma'arif Schools in Jeddah and Wafaa Ahmed Ashmavi, principal girls' section.
The Academic Director of International Schools Ma'arif for Education and Training Holding Dr. Ashraf Farrag said, "AdvancEd global conference empowers education providers in their pursuit of excellence, in serving students and enable learners to realize their full potential. Ma'arif is dedicated to introducing highly educated generations and building future leaders. In their commitment to provide quality and continuous improvement to AdvancEd school level accreditation, Ma'arif is engaged in the AdvancEd Corporation Systems Accreditation protocol, as the first in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
Dr. Farrag awarded the Ma'arif and AdvancEd leaders Soliman Hamdan, Dr. Kem Hussain, Rabab Yusuf, Maha Bawazir, Dr. Waleed, Annette Bohling, Sherif El Taweel, Susie Eisa and Wafaa with honorary shields. Dr. Maria Ojeda gave the keynote address in which she emphasized on the magic of wonder in the classroom, to create, maintain and engage student's interest in education.
"The AdvancEd conference is great for teachers providing them the opportunity to learn more. Every day is a new day, and only if you love yourself, you'll be able to offer love to others including your students," said Rouzan Jawad, principal of Manarat boy's section from G1-3.
Another attendee Ghina Osta expressed her content with the workshop provided by AdvancEd: "It is an amazing and beneficial experience stressing on 3 words – Discover – Involve – Succeed. It is now a ‘must' that students apply creativity with learning to create something new."
Along with the AdvancED conference, Manarat School organized a cultural exhibition with various corners exhibiting Egypt, Morocco, Palestine, India and others.
"The Saudi corner displayed exquisite Bedouin culture and the heritage of the country imbibed from the Islamic perspectives. Projects represented an insight to the culture and art of KSA," Noura Al Arman, head of Arabic Department said.
In charge of Pakistani corner, Maliha Ibrahim told Saudi Gazette, "Like any other great nation, Pakistan also enjoys a very rich and diverse culture. A beautiful mosaic of the cultural richness and diversity was depicted at the Pakistan booth, where the living cultural traditions and lifestyles of the people of Pakistan were presented. Visitors took deep interest in the displayed cultural items particularly traditional costumes, carpets, artifacts, wooden work, leather work and jewelry."
The UK booth by Amina Boujettif showcased the great islands, British heritage and cultural underpinnings which highlighted its crowning achievements from the spheres of science and education, and not forgetting snippets of intriguing FAQS, while visitors sipped English afternoon tea accompanied by delicious Scottish shortcake biscuits and Kipling's Bakewell tarts.
The USA corner by Sakina Paul highlighted upon the leaders, writers, scientist, Nobel Peace Prize winners from the last 20 years, currency, national symbols, famous landmarks, culture and heritage of its people (Native American Indians, African-Americans, Europeans, Polynesians), and dress.
