JEDDAH — The staff and students of Novel International School (NIS) organized a glittering function on Friday, Nov.30 at the premises of the Indian consulate.
The function was divided into three parts: the Carnival, the school and the International School Award (ISA) exhibitions.
Officials from the British Council and the consulate including Dr. Irshad Ahmad, Consul for Press and Information Culture, Madam Ieham Saleh Ba Salam were in attendance.
Prince Faisal Bin Musaed Bin Saud Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud was the guest of honor, and he appreciated the work of the school in the field of imparting quality education to students.
M.R Qureshi, head of chancery, Consulate General of India, delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging the teachers and students to be proud of their curriculum and learning.
NIS's students marched in the grounds with perfection saluting the delegates. The school's choir then jubilantly broke into a melodious school song, which was penned by the school principal Dr. Padma Hariharan.
Mujeeb Rahman, chairman of NIS, and Hariharan welcomed the gathering. They expressed their gratitude to the NIS team for showcasing their learning through exhibiting wonderfully researched and crafted projects.
Vice Principal Shafeeque thanked the entire NIS family for putting up a wonderful show.
The school's educational exhibition displayed projects from the field of mathematics, IT and computer science, science and technology, literatures, biology and bio-technology, among others.
The Carnival, a mini bazar with lots of stalls, was held to celebrate the diversity of the students' cultural and national heritage. It was also an occasion to remember those who are less privileged, hence money raised at the event was donated for a worthy cause.
Another feather in the hat of achievements for NIS was that it was accredited by the the British Council with an ISA award, which is given to only those schools that deliver curriculum-based international work in schools.
Students displayed their work for ISA in a corner and teachers showed it off to all the visitors.
“Our students are proud to exhibit whatever they learned during this academic year.
“We are the only Indian school that has gone forward and partnered with the British Council, and we have worked hard for the accreditation as now we are competing with schools offering IB and American curriculums,” said Hariharan.
