Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 02 - 2017

winning contemporary Indian restaurant, is now open at the upcoming dining mall Rubeen Plaza located at Exit 2 on Northern Ring Road in Hittin, Riyadh.
Serving the most delectable North-west Indian cuisine, the Indian bistro's first restaurant in the Kingdom is ably led by a team of highly skilled and experienced chefs and is certain to be hugely popular with Riyadh's discerning diners.
"Zafran has established very strong credentials in the region and we are looking forward to replicating the success we have seen in the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait here in the Kingdom," said Richard Barclay, COO of Foodmark.
"Our decision to open in Rubeen Plaza, which has already established itself as a ‘dining' destination of choice, was a conscious one and we are excited to continue to be a part of Riyadh's vibrant food scene with a one-of-a-kind homegrown Indian food concept that is certain to resonate with both expatriates and Saudi nationals," he added.
Zafran's menu celebrates the subtle and complex flavors of the Northwest region of India, yet remains light on the stomach. From Tandoori kebabs and wholesome curries to regional favorites such as Laal Maas and Rogan Josh, diners will be spoilt for choice. Along with fragrant biryanis and signature dishes like Aloo tikkia, Daal Zafran and Butter chicken, each dish is made from fresh, high quality ingredients and seasoned with home-ground spices.
Bursting with authentic flavors, each meal at the restaurant is also perfectly complimented with homemade pickles and preserves and a range of signature beverages and desserts with their own distinctive Zafran flair.
The restaurant is open to guests for lunch as well as dinner from 12 p.m. – 12 a.m. on weekdays and 12 p.m. – 1 a.m. on weekends.
Highlighting the restaurant's unique approach Rakshak Puri, General Manager – Asian Dining at Foodmark, said "our founding principal of ‘Big heart-Light touch' permeates every aspect of the restaurant from the warm and engaging table service to the contemporary and inviting décor and a menu that has something to delight every palate. All of these elements blend seamlessly to create that distinctive Zafran dining experience."
The new restaurant does have one feature that sets it apart from the other Zafran outlets in the region and that is a stunning collage art installation depicting the arts and history of India juxtaposed with local images and created exclusively for the venue by renowned Arab artist, Jeffar Khaldi. The first in a series, he has been commissioned to create, this art wall is the visual focal point in the restaurant and is certain to intrigue and surprise diners.
Added entertainment is also provided by the ‘wow' kitchen, a signature element of the restaurant allowing guests to really experience a true taste of Zafran as they witness chefs engaging in the preparation of their food.
