This always mattered but right now everyone in the fashion industry is bringing their A-game to the table. Lets begin with Gucci's grandiose take on the brand's iconic horsebit loaferand appreciate this revolution.
If shoes are the first thing you notice about anyone then you have probably realized that there has never been a better time than now. This season all the biggest fashion names are molding fine statement pieces. Dauntless and eccentric, this year leather, fur and velvet are the dominating trends for men's shoes. Most brands have successfully reengineered the boring military boots and remodeled derby shoes using suede and velvet. Here are our top favorites this season.
Gucci's Jodhpur boots are made in Italy from supple black leather and finished with a square toe and cushioned insoles. Stacked on heels, the burnished-gold tiger buckles on these boots represent the legend of Dionysus that has become the brand signature. Available on Mr Porter.
Saint Laurent's velvet derby shoes in burgundy are great for an evening look. The pair is finished with sleek leather linings and soles. Available on Mr Porter.
Grenson X Foot The Coacher brogues are designed by the cult Japanese label Foot the Coacher and made by Grenson in England. The elegant pair is a an ode to Victorian style and is a great pair to wear with a suit or formals. The half suede and half leather mix is a hot trend this season. The collection is available on Lyst.com.
Valentino Rockstud studded leather derby shoes are a trademark and can be worn with trousers or jeans if you want that street-style appeal. Available on Selfridges.com
Christian Louboutin's plush black velvet embroidered loafers with a gold-tone shield and spikes are the real showstoppers. Recently Louboutin created bespoke pieces for a collaboration with Indian designer Sabyasachi. He designed loafers with spikes and intricate embroidery for their Fall/Winter 2016 collection titled ‘Firdaus'. The collection is available at Louboutin's flagship store in India and will later be available internationally.
Paul Smith's leather derby brogues in black come with a cool contrast of electric blue. Definitely will get the attention you are looking for. Available on Selfridges.com.
Thom Browne's two-tone nubuck and textured-leather Oxford shoes can be worn with a classic suit or even ripped denim jeans.
Givenchy's low-tops in black velvet is a grand take on your basic sneakers. The chunky rubber soles give it their street-style appeal and comfort asset. Available on Barneys.com.
