United Nations — In its efforts to stop the smuggling of weapons, Saudi Arabia has busted terrorist cells related to Iran which smuggled weapons and explosives into the Kingdom, Bahrain and Kuwait. This was announced by Deputy Permanent Representative of Saudi delegation to the UN Counselor Saad Al-Saad in a speech at the UN on Monday. He reiterated the Kingdom's commitment to the UN program of action to combat illicit trade in small arms and light weapons. He said that the Kingdom expresses deep concern at the extremely dangerous humanitarian, economic and social effects of illicit trafficking operations in small arms and light weapons. "Saudi Arabia has suffered from the remnants of the Gulf War in its northeastern and northern regions, and from the smuggling of weapons through its southern borders. These smuggled weapons were used in terrorist operations. "However, the Kingdom has worked to defuse and destroy these explosives in cooperation with specialists, as well as worked to fight against the smuggling of weapons by busting terrorist cells relating to Iran, that smuggled weapons and explosives into Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait." Al-Saad said that Iran was supporting sectarian conflicts in a number of countries in the region by providing arms to militias and terrorist groups. Iran's approach of spreading destruction, devastation and fueling sectarianism, raises an important question: Is Iran a state that respects international laws or does it want to export a revolution to other countries? Al-Saad said that there is proof that Iran provided Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah with weapons to interfere in the internal affairs of Lebanon.
