Visa returns with #NotATourist Summer Getaway 2016 drive
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 08 - 2016

VISA, a global payments technology company, has announced the launch of its highly anticipated ‘Not A Tourist' Summer Getaway 2016 campaign that will provide Visa cardholders in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a chance to win exciting holiday packages every week until Sept. 12, 2016.
To be automatically entered to win a holiday package, cardholders need to make at least one international transaction worth $100 or more during the promotional period using their Visa cards. Eligible international transactions include point-of-sales (POS) spends, ATM withdrawals and eCommerce transactions on international sites. Prizes for each week will be announced at the end of the ‘Not A Tourist' Summer Getaway 2016 campaign.
This is a continuation of last year's ‘Not A Tourist campaign' launched to inspire travellers to explore destinations as locals rather than tourists, by giving them access to local knowledge using crowd-sourced digital content available on Visa's NotATourist website (http://www.visa-promotions.com/notatourist/find-more.html) and the Visa Explore mobile app.
Karim Beg, Head of Marketing, Visa, Middle East and North Africa, said: "Visa is delighted to launch another edition of the highly anticipated ‘Not A Tourist' Summer Getaway 2016 campaign that rewards international holiday spends. Summer is upon us and everyone is on the lookout for the best holiday deals in exciting destinations. The #NotATourist campaign is aimed at rewarding Visa cardholders while driving travel inspiration and aiding in travel planning."
In addition to rewarding cardholders, the promotion aims to reinforce the benefits of cashless transactions. Instead of carrying large amounts of cash while travelling overseas, Visa is encouraging cardholders to use their cards for all holiday-related transactions – which has the dual benefit of being more safe and secure.
"Besides driving home the message of safe and convenient payments with Visa in target markets, we also want #NotATourist to facilitate cross border spends. Visa is accepted at 40 million merchants and 2.5 million ATMs around the world which means travelers can use Visa's products wherever they wish to travel this summer," Beg concluded.
In addition to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the ‘Not A Tourist' Summer Getaway 2016 campaign is running in Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Qatar and the UAE.
