MADINAH — Madinah Cricket Association (MCA) honored the winners and awarded the prizes for the MCA Taiba Challenge 2015—2016 here recently. Saud Al-Rasheedi, consular of Al-Aqool Area, was the chief guest. The cricket facilities of MCA are situated in Al-Aqool area since 1986. Other invited guests Zahid Kamal, Dr. Insram and Mohammed Farooq also graced the ceremony. Before the ceremony two festival matches were played between a selected MCA President XI vs. champion of Travel Link knockout tournament, Madinah Diamonds and MCA General Select XI vs. champion of MCA Taiba Challenge Cup tournament, Classic XI. Batting first, Madinah Diamonds scored 276 in 25 overs. Jhanzaib scored 126 in 51 balls, with 12 fours and 5 sixes. Hashim faced 30 balls and scored 43. Faisal and Hamza also supported their team with 23 each. Anees from President XI captured three wickets and Arshed two. Chasing the target, President XI also worked very hard but lost the game by six runs. Yasir scored 119 in 57 balls with 7 boundaries and 7 sixes. Jhanzaib, Shahid, Kashif and Ihsan got two wickets each. The match was supervised by Arif from Pepsi Madinah and Afzal from Bismillah XI. The second match between GS XI and Classic XI became one-sided and went in the favor of GS XI. Batting first Classic was all out 123. GS XI easily achieved the target by losing five wickets. Chief guest Saud Al-Rasheedi expressed his thanks and promised to bring Saudi youngsters to the game of cricket. Adnan, captain of Classic, received the winner's trophy from the chief guest, the runner-up trophy was presented to Asif, captain of Pepsi Madinah.
