The Penal Court sentenced one man to death and a second to 22 years in prison on Tuesday for involvement with terrorist activities. The two men faced trial at Riyadh's Penal Court on Tuesday for involvement in a number of terrorist activities, including shooting at a police station, planting bombs several times at Qatif courthouse, vandalizing police vehicles by burning tires, holding a funeral for a wanted terrorist and participating in several public demonstrations against the government. Riyadh Red Crescent spokesman, Abdullah Al-Miraibidh, said the Red Crescent received reports of a car crash near the National Guard Base. Two of the persons died at the scene, while a third person was injured and treated on the spot. The body of one of the deceased was completely incinerated in the accident, while the second body was taken to a nearby hospital. Okaz / Saudi Gazette Teacher detained for assaulting student JEDDAH — A teacher was detained for physically assaulting a student. Jeddah Education Affairs spokesman, Abdulmajeed Al-Ghamdi, said a video of a teacher at a private primary school beating one of his students went viral. Despite the student crying out in pain, the teacher continued to beat the student. The directorate detained the teacher and opened an investigation into the incident. The teacher has been suspended from teaching until the directorate reveals the results of the investigation.
